The kids were stolen 3 years ago but the fight between the two admirals that turned the Island the way it is now happened in the period of the 2 years the strawhats were training. If they kidnapped the kids one year before and brought them to the island, the admirals would have noticed that something was happening. Sooo did they have the children on another Island previous to this one??? I'm confused.
